Kevin Costner has finally addressed the swirling rumors surrounding his alleged feud with ‘Yellowstone’ co-star Luke Grimes and his abrupt departure from the hit Western drama.
Speaking during an outing in Aspen earlier this week, the Oscar-winning actor revealed his thoughts—or lack thereof—about the show’s controversial finale.
In a video shared by Daily Mail, Costner, who portrays patriarch John Dutton on the series, stated, “I’m not even thinking about that. I don’t think I’ve given it any thought,” referring to the finale. He added succinctly, “So, we’ll just let it go.”
When asked about his relationship with Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, Kevin Costner confirmed that the two are no longer in communication. “No. We’re done talking,” he said, fueling speculation about their alleged fallout.
Meanwhile, Grimes offered his perspective in an interview with Men’s Health MH Flex, where he admitted that he hasn’t spoken to Costner since the actor’s sudden exit from the show. “I haven’t talked to him since,” said Grimes, clarifying that there are no hard feelings. “It’s not a case of any hard feelings or anything. It’s just, he’s Kevin Costner.”
Grimes described Kevin Costner as a “big deal” in Hollywood and explained why he hasn’t reached out. “I do have his phone number—I just don’t feel like it’s my place to reach out. He can reach out to me if he wants to.”
The tension surrounding Costner’s departure from Yellowstone midway through the production of its fifth season has been the subject of much speculation. Reports suggest that his exit stemmed from creative differences with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, and on-set conflicts.
Grimes, however, refuted claims of a blowout feud, explaining that Costner’s exit took the cast by surprise. “None of us saw it coming the way it did, and obviously there was news about possible blowups behind the scenes or whatever,” he said. “But just like in life, man, these things happen, they happen fast, and they’re not predictable.”
Meanwhile, season 5 of the popular series is getting mixed reactions from viewers. One netizen wrote, ““It is official. Game of Thrones is no longer the worst final season of any TV show ever. Yellowstone has taken that award. What a disaster of a final season. #Yellowstone #YellowstoneTV.” Another netizen wrote, ““? hm, after that finale, i wonder what the premise of the next season/Beth and Rip’s spinoff will be. i guess we’ll see,” Viewers seem to be not happy with the ending as one wrote, “Dumb ending #Yellowstone #YellowstoneTV.”
