When Ranbir Kapoor shared the hilarious reaction of his late father Rishi Kapoor on the ending of 'Rockstar'

Ranbir Kapoor is one of the stars who has carved a niche for himself in the industry with a series of stellar and versatile performances. Be it a boy next door, a chocolate boy, a rockstar with a broken heart, or a son in a dysfunctional relationship with his father, Ranbir has time and again proved that he has what it takes to bring justice to diverse characters. Owing to the same, he garners appreciation from all around. However, Ranbir Kapoor’s late father and one of the legendary actors Rishi Kapoor was one of the rarest people to have hardly lauded the ‘Animal’ star.
Reports suggest that despite being in the same profession, Ranbir and Rishi hardly discussed each other’s work, and thus even the exchange of compliments was a rare phenomenon. However, there were certain gestures of Rishi Kapoor that to date make Ranbir laugh. One such gesture was shared by the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Hai’ star during his old conversation with Film Companion.
He recalled that after watching ‘Rockstar’ Rishi Kapoor had a confusion regarding the movie’s ending. Thus, he rang up Ranbir Kapoor and asked him if the heroine made it in the last or passed away. Clearing the confusion, Ranbir told him that in the last scene, it is the spirit of the actress that visits the stage, as the character is no more. As soon as the doubt was cleared, Rishi Kapoor didn’t waste a minute and said, “Ya, okay bye,” and he ended the call. This funny incident still cracks Ranbir up.
Though Rishi Kapoor rarely commented on Ranbir’s work, he always felt pride that his son was giving his best in the industry. When the late actor saw ‘Sanju,’ he had tears in his eyes. Further, when Rishi Kapoor saw Ranbir Kapoor’s work in ‘Barfi,’ he appreciated his performance but at the same time told him to not do too many ‘artsy films.’ According to Ranbir, his father was a hard critic to please.
