Rajkummar Raowho is currently riding high on the success of his bockbuster film ‘Street 2‘ alongside Shraddha Kapoorhad once opened up about a tough experience from his early days in the film industry.
Appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show alongside Janhvi Kapoor to promote their film ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, Rajkummar Rao had revealed that during his struggling years, he was scammed out of Rs 10,000 in Delhi while chasing his dream of becoming an actor.
Sharing his story with host Kapil Sharma, Rajkummar Rao recalled how difficult it was to land his first film role. “It was the most difficult task for me to get a chance in the first film. It took me two years,” he said.
During that time, Rajkummar Rao would tirelessly seek acting opportunities, explaining, “I used to go in search of work every day. I had no other option because I wanted to do acting only.”
He went on to narrate the incident, saying that he had come across a newspaper clipping about a show being made for a popular channel and decided to pursue the opportunity. At the time, Rao didn’t know the difference between television and film, as his sole ambition was to act. He explained, “I rode my bicycle from Gurgaon to Delhi for the meeting.”
However, things took a turn when he was asked for Rs 10,000 in exchange for a role. “My mother borrowed the money, and somehow we paid him the amount,” Rajkummar Rao said. When he returned after three days, the office had vanished. “The office was locked. I asked people around, and they told me those guys had run away.”
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao is seen in ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ alongside Triptii Dimri. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film has collected Rs 35 crore so far at the box office.
