Shweta Tripathi Sharma has revealed exciting updates about the highly anticipated ‘Mirzapur: The Film‘, an adaptation of the hit web series.
With her stellar performances in ‘Mirzapur’ and ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein’, Shweta has cemented her position as one of the most versatile actors in Indian entertainment.
Speaking in an interview with Screen, Shweta confirmed that the Mirzapur film is in pre-production and will explore a storyline set in the earlier timeline of the series, ensuring the return of fan-favorite characters like Munna Bhaiya (played by Divyenndu Sharma) and Sweety Gupta (played by Shriya Pilgaonkar).
“So, from what I understand, because Munna is a part of it, it has to connect to season one. We can’t bring a character back to life after they’ve died in the last season. It’s based in a time when Munna is still alive, and I think Sweety is also still alive,” Shweta said.
While the script is yet to be finalized and shooting schedules are pending confirmation from the makers, Excel Entertainment, Shweta expressed her enthusiasm for the project. “One thing I know is that it’s going to be power-packed and have the swag. ‘Mirzapur’ is the beast of the heartland, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the film. Puneet Krishna, the writer of ‘Mirzapur’, is one of my favorites. These characters don’t need an introduction, so I’m curious and excited about how their stories will unfold in this cinematic format,” she added.
The news of Munna Bhaiya’s return has sparked excitement among fans of the series, as the character’s fiery presence in the earlier seasons was one of its highlights.
Meanwhile, Shweta is also gearing up for the third season of ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein’, set to release in 2024.
