According to SRK, he makes big-budget movies so that his parents from heaven could see them. The actor went on to say that he believes his mother turned into a star in the sky.
In a recent interview at Locarno Meets podcast, Shah Rukh shared, “There came a time that we wouldn’t be doing it, and I moved on. But I was very keen to do such a film in my career. My parents had passed away by the time I joined films; both of them were not alive. I don’t know, for some reason, I always felt I’ll make films that are very big, so that my mom and dad can see them from heaven.”
Shah Rukh acknowledged that it can come across as “childish,” but added, “I still think my mom’s a star, and it works. I think I even know the star she is.” Shah Rukh continued by saying he thinks his mother would have enjoyed seeing him in Devdas. He answered, “She would appreciate it.”

In 2002, ‘Devdas’ was released. Shah Rukh portrayed the lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s film, which also starred Aishwarya Rai as Paro. Jackie Shroff portrayed Chunnilal, while Madhuri Dixit played the role of Chandramukhi. The film won five national awards as well.
