Shaan recounts terrifying ordeal after fire breaks out in his building: 'We took refuge at our neighbour's home for 40 minutes'

A fire broke out early Tuesday morning in the Fortune Enclave building in Mumbai’s Bandra, where playback singer Shaan resides. While the incident caused significant damage to parts of the building, Shaan and his family escaped unharmed.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Shaan recounted the terrifying ordeal. “The fire broke out on the seventh floor around 12.30 am. We were asleep and were woken up around 1 am. Most of the people in the building, seventh floor and below, had gone down. We were told to go to the terrace, but since the terrace was locked and the smoke was mounting, we took refuge at our neighbour, Mrs Kazi’s home, on the 14th floor. Unfortunately, they were stuck too. We were there for about 40 minutes until the fireman came up and they took us down.”
When asked about the damage to their home, Shaan said, “The seventh floor is completely gutted with fire. The sixth and eighth floors are partially burnt, but there hasn’t been much damage to the building. Our home is fine.” The fire was extinguished after two and a half hours.

Bhopal enjoyed a lot when Shaan performed in the city

Shaan’s wife, Radhika Mukherjeeshared an update on her Instagram Stories, assuring everyone of their safety. Her note read, “Dear all, as the news spreads about the fire in our building, just to let you all know that we are safe. Fire was on the 7th floor; we live on higher floors. We managed to escape to the 15th floor and waited to be rescued. To cut a long horrible story short, we are absolutely fine and waiting to go back home once there is a clearer picture from the fire department. A big thank you to the fire department, the Mumbai police and @advocateashishshelar for their quick and timely action.” Shaan later reshared her post on his Instagram handle.

While no fatalities have been reported, an 80-year-old woman in the building experienced breathing difficulties and is currently receiving treatment at Bhabha Hospital.
