Ranbir Kapoor is collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 17 years. He made his debut with Bhansali with ‘Saawariya’ in 2007 and since then they’ve not worked together. ‘Love And War‘ is their collaboration which has left everyone excited as it also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Ranbir opened up on working with SLB again at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on Sunday.
He said, “I am extremely excited. He is my godfather. Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him.” He further added, “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different.”
At this occasion, Ranbir also spoke about his project to restore his grand father Raj Kapoor’s films, along with NFDC, NFAI, his uncle Kunal Kapoor and the Film Heritage Foundation. “We have done 10 films so far and we have much more to do. I am really hopeful you guys will check out his work because there are so many people who haven’t seen his work.”
Ranbir revealed that a festival will be held from December 13 to December 15 where his grandfather’s iconic movies will be shown. He also revealed the reason for doing so, and that’s to make the younger generation aware of the work of such legends. Giving an example, he said, “I remember the first time I met Alia (Bhatt), she asked me, ‘Who is Kishore Kumar?’ It’s just the circle of life. People are forgotten and then newer artiste come. So, I think it’s very important that we remember our roots. Not just Mr. Raj Kapoor, there are so many filmmakers and artistes that we should constantly celebrate.”
