Nana Patekar recalls Sooraj Barjatya picking up his shoes to give him during ‘Pratighaat’ shoot: ‘You are heir to this big organisation, don’t do this’ |

Veteran actor Nana Patekar recounted a heartwarming incident with filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya. During the shoot of ‘Pratighaat’, Barjatya, then an assistant director, humbly insisted on fetching Nana’s shoes despite his lineage. Years later, Nana was touched to find Barjatya’s humility unchanged, greeting him with respect and genuine warmth.

Nana Patekarwho had worked with Sooraj Barjatya before, remembered a time on a film set when the filmmaker picked up Nana’s shoes. When Nana tried to stop him, thinking Sooraj, as the heir to Rajshri Productionsshouldn’t do such tasks, Sooraj insisted that it was his job, as he was working as an assistant at the time.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Nana recalled a shoot for Pratighaatdirected by N Chandra, where Sooraj was the assistant director. One day, Sooraj brought Nana his shoes, and when Nana told him not to, Sooraj insisted on doing it, explaining that as an assistant, it was his responsibility, despite being the heir to a major organisation.

The actor shared that many years later, he met Sooraj at a function and was surprised to see that he hadn’t changed. Sooraj greeted him with a bow and folded hands, and Nana was amazed by how genuinely simple and humble he remained, appreciating that Sooraj’s kindness was authentic.

Sooraj Barjatya is known for directing popular films like Who are you?Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. His last film, Uunchaistarring Amitabh Bachchan, Gupta saidBoman Irani, and Anupam Kher, earned him the National Award for Best Director. In a previous interview, Sooraj mentioned planning his next project with Salman Khanbut has not made any official announcements yet.
