Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has showered praise on the Princess of Wales, Kate Middletonafter she received a “warm response” from the British royal.
The actress, who famously shared her battle with cancer, revealed in a recent interview that she reached out to the Princess with support and also recounted her own experience. Speaking to Nepalise publication Online Khabar, Koirala said, “I wanted to reach out to HRH The Princess of Wales to send my good wishes, particularly due to my own experiences.”
She added, “I am deeply heartened to receive such a warm response from her and wish her the very best of health.”
Details of what was said between Kate, and Koirala remain unclear, but it has been confirmed that the Princess did respond to the actress and expressed her gratitude for the letter.
Diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2012, Koirala has since become a prominent advocate for cancer awareness. The actress said that she wanted to use her voice not only to support cancer patients but also to raise awareness about the need for equitable healthcare access and the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms. “Having faced cancer myself, I know how isolating and challenging the journey can be, and I believe it is essential that we all play a part in changing that reality for others,” she said.
During a recent visit to London, Koirala met with members of the charity Ovacome, which supports those affected by ovarian cancer. The charity shared, “It was inspiring to see Manisha chat about her experience with Ovacome members and to inform her about the work we do to support the ovarian cancer community and reduce health inequalities.”
The Princess of Wales went public about her cancer journey early this year and shared a health update in September, revealing her completion of a course of preventative chemotherapy. She called the experience “incredibly tough” for her family and thanked the public for their support, saying, “Everyone’s kindness, empathy, and compassion has been truly humbling.”
