Mamta Kulkarnia prominent name in Bollywood during the 1990s, has broken her silence after her much-publicized return to Mumbai following a 25-year absence. In her recent interview, Mamta reflected on her time away, her spiritual journey, and her decision to leave the film industry at the peak of her career.
Mamta’s return comes after the Bombay High Court dropped the FIR against her in the Rs 2,000 crore drug casegiving her a clean chit. Addressing her long absence, Mamta compared her path to that of Gautam BuddhaShe told News18, “I set out in search of truth. Just like Gautam Buddha emerged. I was just tapping, absorbed in devotion.” (“I set out in search of truth, like Gautam Buddha. I was immersed in meditation and devotion.”)
She reminisced about leaving Bollywood when she was at the peak of her career, saying, “Mere pass 40 filmein thi, 3 flats the, 4 gaadiyaan thi, 50 concerts kiye the worldwide. But maine sab chhodh diya tha.” (“I had 40 films, 3 flats, 4 cars, and had done 50 concerts worldwide. But I left it all behind.”)
Mamta clarified that her return to India has no connection to her Bollywood career or any potential comeback. She said, “I am not here to go back to Bollywood. I’m finding a middle path and will continue walking on my spiritual path. Har cheez ek umar ke saath achi lagti hai. I’ve enjoyed that phase, but I’ve moved on now.” (“Everything has its time. I’ve enjoyed that phase, but I’ve moved on now.”)

The actress revealed that she returned primarily to witness the upcoming Kumbh Melaadding that she is content with her spiritual journey and life away from films. She dismissed speculations about her participating in Bigg Boss or resuming her acting career.
Previously, Mamta announced her return to India through an emotional video. She expressed her joy and nostalgia, saying, “I went out of India in the year 2000, and exactly in 2024, I’m here. I’m really overwhelmed; I don’t know how to express it. I’m emotional. When the flight landed, I was seeing my country from the top after 24 years, and I had tears in my eyes.”

Mamta Kulkarni, who once ruled the silver screen with hits like Baazi, Karan Arjunand Sabse Bada Khiladi, has made it clear that she is now on a new path, seeking peace and self-discovery far from the glamour of Bollywood.
