Jigra‘, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina in lead roles, hit theatres today, October 11.
Those who lined up to catch early screenings of the film, mostly had positive things to say about the performances of the lead stars and the director’s vision. However, there were others who seemed let down by the film’s plot which was deemed ‘too simple’.
However, as far as Alia’s celebrity friends are concerned, the film has been receiving rave reviews.Some Bollywood stars along with several South superstars have been showing their support for the film, while also sending their best wishes to the team for the movie’s success.
Janhvi Kapoor and sister Khushi Kapoor joined the ‘Jigra’ cheer squad by posting producer Karan Johar’s post on their handles and adding a heart emoticon.

Rashmika Mandanna shared her excitement on social media, praising the film’s lead actress in a post that read, “You are an absolute blessing for us all! Thank you for letting us witness your talent and your craft.” She also praised Vedang Raina, saying she is eager to see more of him on screen, and gave a special shoutout to director Vasan Bala and music composer Achint Thakkar.

Rashmika added a personal touch, acknowledging her ‘The Girlfriend’ director Rahul Ravindranwho stars in the film saying, “Rahulaaaa… you have absolutely surprised me… the Rahulaaaa I know to Muthu in ‘Jigra’ is oh so surprising in a good way.”

Mahesh Babu joined in to call the film a ‘blockbuster’.

Telugu superstar Rana Daggubatiwho attended the pre-release event of the film in Hyderabad earlier this week, also took to X to show his support for the film. He encouraged fans to book their tickets.
Samanthawho was also at the event, took to her handle to encourage fans to watch the film in theatres saying, “There is only one @aliaabhatt. The greatest actress of this generation. If there is a film of hers in theatres, I am not going to miss it and neither should you.”

Sai Dharam Tej joined in the chorus and cheered for the teams in a tweet that read, “This festival will be special, with many exciting films coming to theatres. Wishing all the best to the teams of ‘Maa Nanna Superhero’, ‘Viswam’, ‘Jigra’, and ‘Martin’. May all of these films become blockbusters!”

Tamil-Telugu actor and director Rahul Ravindran, who stars in the movie, also shared his excitement, posting a message on X along with a poster of Alia. “#Jigra in theatres from tomorrow! Will always remember this film fondly. Met and worked with some wonderful people… and wonderfully talented people.” he wrote, urging fans to watch the film in both Hindi and Telugu.
‘Jigra’ tells the emotional story of a girl determined to save her brother after he is wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit in a foreign country and sentenced to death. It follows her on her daring plan to stage a jailbreak and rescue her brother, offering a blend of high-stakes drama and heart-wrenching emotion.
