Did you know Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan were called the 'worst combination' during the making of 'Chennai Express'?

Rohit Shetty is back with the much-awaited film from his cop universe, ‘Singham Again‘, following his recent setback with the 2022 film ‘Cirkus’. Rohit had previously collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan in two films, ‘Chennai Express‘ and ‘Dilwale’, both of which were hits in SRK’s career. ‘Chennai Express’ was SRK’s highest-grossing film until Siddharth Anand’s ‘pathan‘ broke the record. However, many predicted that the SRK-Rohit duo would not get along when ‘Chennai Express’ was announced.
In 2013, director Rohit addressed the widespread skepticism about his collaboration with Shah Rukh for ‘Chennai Express’ during a chat with Rediff. Fans and critics questioned their compatibility, doubting if Shetty could handle Khan’s comedic style or whether Shetty, known for action films, could effectively create a love story.

Despite these doubts, Shetty expressed confidence, marking the duo’s first collaboration. He shared, “People said, ‘Shah Rukh aur Rohit ka toh jamega hi nahi (they won’t get along!). It is the worst combination. Shah Rukh goes overboard when he does comedy; how will Rohit handle him? And ‘Arre, Rohit’s making a love story… what kind of love story will he make?’ They reacted based on what they thought the film would be. The reality is that only I know what I am making.”
‘Chennai Express’ also featured Deepika PadukoneNikitin Dheer, Sathyaraj, and Kamini Kaushal in key roles.
Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ is the fifth installment in his Cop Universe. The movie, starring Ajay DevgnKareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles, hit theaters yesterday (November 1).
