‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ the pan-India movie has been creating headlines right from the word go. After the impressive success of its first part, fans couldn’t wait to catch the second installment and thus, from pre-sale to early estimates, the movie broke records everywhere. However, amid this frenzy, a misfortune incident happened in Hyderabad on Wednesday, which left a woman dead. Reportedly, the headliner of the movie, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, and the theatre will be booked in the matter, stated Hyderabad Police.
On Wednesday, the ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ star Allu Arjun and famous music composer Devi Sri Parasd made a surprise visit to Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre for the movie premiere ahead of the release on December 5. Chaos erupted outside the said venue as fans were more than excited to catch a glimpse of their beloved star. Things took an ugly turn when the stampede resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, and left her nin-year-old son severely injured.
Reportedly, the police mentioned that the theatre’s main gate collapsed under the pressure of the crowd, and they had to charge lath to get the mob under control.
According to a report by NDTV, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, in a statement said, “There was no intimation from the side of theatre management or actors team that they will be visiting the theatre…”
The police further shared that despite knowing about the arrival of the star, the theatre management didn’t manage to have a separate entry or exit for the actor and his team, which only added to the mess. Thus, the theatre reportedly will be charged for not having “additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd”.
Meanwhile, ahead of the reports claiming that the actor will be charged, Allu Arjun’s team issued a statement expressing their profound grief on the matter. “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow, Mythri Movie Makers,” read their statement on X.
