Tollywood star Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with a tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere of his much-anticipated film, Pushpa 2, on December 4. The stampede resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman, Revathi, and left her 13-year-old son, Sri Tej, in critical condition.
The incident took place at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad when a large crowd gathered for the premiere, reportedly without prior notification to the police about the film team’s attendance. This lack of communication led to a chaotic situation that ensued when the theatre’s main gate collapsed under pressure from the crowd.
Following the stampede, authorities launched an investigation, filing cases against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt.
In response to the incident, Allu Arjun expressed his heartfelt condolences to Revathi’s family and pledged support for their needs. He announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh to assist them during this challenging time and stated that he would personally meet with them to offer his support.
The police had previously arrested three individuals associated with the theatre, including one of its owners and a senior manager, as part of their investigation into the incident.
