After installing the watch OS 9.5 update, some Apple Watch customers noticed a green tint on their displays.

Watch OS 9.5, which included bug patches and a new themed watch face, was published by Apple a few days ago. Some watches, like the Watch SE, Watch Series 8, and Watch Ultra, will now have a greenish hue after installing the update.

Apple launched watchOS 9.5 last week, one of numerous operating system updates. Apple Watch owners have begun complaining about a flaw that was released with watchOS 9.5, whereas iOS 16.5, macOS Ventura 13.4, and others appear to have no major difficulties. Minor compared to iOS 16.5 and macOS Ventura 13.4, the upgrade still has a bug that, under certain circumstances, causes a very noticeable green tint to the screen.

From anecdotal evidence, we know that the Watch Series 8 is affected by this problem. The Watch SE and Watch Ultra have gotten the bulk of the attention, though. The Notification Center, Quick Settings, and passcode entry all seem to be the only places in watchOS where the green hue is present.

From what we’ve seen, the green hue of the watch face is only noticeable when seen head-on. Looking away from the center of the screen causes the tint to disappear.

In most cases, it seems that restarting the device would resolve the issue as well. However, some users have reported that the green hue persisted even after several reboots. Although Apple has yet to address the issue, we wouldn’t be surprised to see watchOS 9.5.1 released to address it.
