Aamir Khan openly discusses mental healthchallenging stereotypes about men. The Bollywood superstar has shown that men can express emotions like crying and embraces unconventional choices. Recently, he highlighted the life-changing benefits of therapy.
In a chat with US Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy for Netflix, Aamir Khan shared his thoughts on mental health and therapy. He said therapy had greatly helped him and encouraged anyone in need to try it, adding, “Therapy is so helpful. I strongly recommend it to anyone who feels the need.”
During the conversation, Aamir Khan supported Dr. Murthy’s positive views on therapy, describing it as incredibly impactful. He admitted that, at first, he was reluctant to seek help but eventually understood the importance of accepting support and realized he couldn’t handle every challenge on his own.He shared that, for most of his life, he believed his intelligence and problem-solving skills were enough to handle challenges. However, he realized that no matter how wise or capable one is, it’s okay to seek help. Addressing the stigma around therapy in India, he emphasized its immense benefits in his life.

Ira Khanwho joined her father in the conversation, shared the video on her Instagram stories without adding a caption. Known for being open about her mental health struggles, she has previously discussed her experiences in several social media posts.
In another part of the interview, Aamir Khan revealed that his daughter, Ira, encouraged him to pursue therapy. He found her suggestion to be life-changing and shared that they even began joint therapy to improve their relationship, calling the experience transformative.
