Nayanthara reveals ‘sacrificing’ career during the relationship with Prabhu Deva helped shape her future: 'After that, I was a whole different person altogether'

Nayanthara is hailed as the ‘Lady Superstar’ in the South film industry for portraying strong roles, and she took a break from the industry due to her relationships in 2011. She is now relieved that she quit acting for her love during that time and reflects on the reason behind her significant comeback.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nayanthara said that she had to quit acting because of her then-boyfriend Lord God in 2011. “I was in a phase where I believed that I had to compromise if I wanted love in my life. I was too vulnerable and young.”

She reflected on how the dynamics of relationships in the industry shaped her perspective on love. The actress explained that witnessing various relationships, including second marriages in the industry, led her to believe that love required compromise and sacrifice. At that time, she thought that to receive love, one had to give everything, even if it meant sacrificing personal desires or interests to please a partner.
The ‘Jawan’ actress emphasised that the particular relationship played a pivotal role in shaping her into the person she is today. She credited it with helping her through a challenging phase in her life, stating that without it, she wouldn’t have discovered her true strength or realised her capabilities. “If not for that particular relationship, I don’t think I would have found the strength to be what I am today. I wouldn’t have been able to understand what I am capable of. After that, I was a whole different person altogether,” she stated.
Nayanthara met her now-husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivanon the sets of ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’, and they fell in love with each other. The couple got married in June 2022 and welcomed twin boys, Ulag and Uyir, the same year through surrogacy.
