Govinda‘s daughter Tina Ahuja revealed that her father was ‘hardly around’ during her childhood because he was busy with work. Govinda, one of the top stars of the 1990s, was often away, and Tina’s mother took on the role of primary caregiver. Tina later grew closer to her dad after she started managing his work. Although Tina tried acting, her career didn’t take off, and she later moved to a behind-the-scenes role with her father.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tina opened up, “People don’t know this, but my dad has hardly come to my school. In my school days, my dad was never around. It was always my mom getting our lunch, going for those… He was hardly there. This was one way of me getting to know my dad well. He was hardly there in school days, he was either in Hyderabad or Switzerland. So, I started really liking working with dad. People started giving me extra attention and importance.”
When she was asked what she does with her dad, Tina explained, “I had a company, we were doing lots of shows and events with him… Just being busy around him, head to toe.”
In a previous interview, Tina Ahuja’s mother, Sunita Ahujashared that Govinda wasn’t present when Tina was born. She revealed that Govinda had scheduled five shifts on the same day Tina was born. Sunita’s mother-in-law was with her, and Govinda would check in after each shift to ask if the baby had been born. Tina arrived during his third shift. Sunita also mentioned that for the first year, they kept their marriage a secret, as she didn’t fully realize the extent of Govinda’s stardom at the time.
Govinda’s wife Sunita said, “This was the trend in those days, who cares? But when Tina was born, of course everybody came to know.” Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in 1987; they have two children, daughter Tina and son Yashvardhan.
