The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has unveiled the television nominees for the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards, with FX/Hulu’s ‘Shogun‘ leading the pack with six nominations. The prestigious awards ceremony, honouring excellence in television and film, will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, hosted by Chelsea Handler.
‘Shogun’, a historical drama, has earned nominations for Best Drama Series, with its cast receiving widespread recognition. Hiroyuki Sanada is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series, Anna Sawai for Best Actress in a Drama Series, Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and Moeka Hoshi for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Close behind, ‘Abbott Elementary‘ (ABC), ‘Disclaimer‘ (Apple TV+), ‘Hacks’ (HBO | Max), ‘The Diplomat’ (Netflix), ‘The Penguin‘ (HBO | Max), and ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ (FX) have each secured four nominations.
‘Abbott Elementary’ will compete for Best Comedy Series, with Quinta Brunson nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Tyler James Williams for Best Supporting Actor, and Janelle James for Best Supporting Actress.
‘Disclaimer’ garnered nods for Kevin Kline for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, Cate Blanchett for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, and Leila George for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.
‘The Penguin’ sees Colin Farrell nominated for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, Cristin Milioti for Best Actress, and Deirdre O’Connell for Best Supporting Actress.
‘What We Do in the Shadows’ received acting nods for Kayvan Novak (Best Actor in a Comedy Series), Natasia Demetriou (Best Actress in a Comedy Series), and Harvey Guillén (Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series).
The Indian series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ also scored a nomination in the Best Foreign Language series. The Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer will go up against ‘Acapulco’, ‘La Máquina’, ‘The Law According to Lidia Poët’, ‘My Brilliant Friend’, ‘Pachinko, ‘Senna’ and ‘Squid Game’.
