Kangana Ranaut celebrates female commandos as she shares a photo of ‘Lady SPG’ walking with Prime Minister Narendra Modi

In addition to having a successful cinematic career, actress Kangana Ranaut is now making a niche for herself in politics. She is an MP with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who recently shared a picture of a woman in uniform. She used fire emoticons as she shared a photograph of a female commando behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament.
The picture went viral on social media as soon as it was released and here’s all that we know about it. According to a Hindustan Times report, the lady officer in the picture is a female commando, who has been a part of the SPG’s security framework for years.
Perhaps the reason why Kangana is all hearts over the picture is because a lady SPG officer is not a common sight. Until 2015, the Close Protection Team (CPT) of the SPG didn’t include females, and now according to India Today the respective department has around 100 women commandos.

What is the SPG?
Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi set up the SPG in April 1985, under the Cabinet Secretariat. It was made in the wake of the assassination of his mother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her bodyguards. Thereafter in 1988, The SPG Act came into being, to safeguard PMs with an armed force officer providing “proximate security.”
Meanwhile, on the cinematic front, Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the political drama ‘Emergency’ in which she will play the role of Indira Gandhi. The movie which boasts an ensemble cast that includes Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman and more, is scheduled to release in 2025.
