The political drama The Sabarmati Report, featuring Vikrant Massey in the lead role, continues its journey at the box office but faces a significant slowdown. On its second Monday, the film’s earnings dropped below Rs 1 crore for the first time, with early estimates by Sacnilk.com reporting collections of approximately Rs 85 lakh.
This marks a sharp decline from the film’s strong second-weekend performance, which saw it earn Rs 1.4 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 2.6 crore and Rs 3.1 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The total box office collection now stands at an estimated Rs 19.45 crore, including Rs 11.5 crore earned during its opening week. While the film inches closer to the Rs20 crore milestone, its current trajectory raises questions about its ability to sustain momentum.
The slowdown mirrors a broader trend among recent Hindi releases, such as Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which also saw significant Monday drops. As The Sabarmati Report heads into the week, its performance in the coming days will determine its final box office tally.
While the film has been facing stiff competition, it is the only movie released this month which has been receiving political backing and endorsement. From PM Modi to CM Dhami, several political leaders have backed the film and asked people to watch it. In a bid to boost the film’s business, the film was even declared tax-free in some states.
