Delnaaz Irani recalls how Shah Rukh Khan made everyone feel comfortable on the sets of 'Kal ho Na Ho': He didn't have to do all this

Kal Ho Naa Ho‘ directed by Nikhil Advani had released 21 years ago on November 15 and the movie now continues to be a cult. It’s one of the best movies from Hindi cinema with a star cast which boasts of Shah Ruk Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. The movie also had many other important characters who were adorable and are remembered till date. For instance, Sweetu, which was played by Delnaaz Irani.
In a recent interview, Delnaaz opened up on her role and its popularity. She said during a chat with News18, “I was so excited about Karan Arjun re-releasing on November 22. You won’t believe this, I was telling Percy (Karkaria; her DJ partner) ki kaash Kal Ho Naa Ho bhi release ho jaaye! I always keep thinking, if Kal Ho Naa Ho released in the age of social media, kya hi baat ho jaati! I’m excited for the social media crowd and Gen-Z to watch it on the big screen. Maine uss film mein jo bhi bola tha, woh asli zindagi mein sahi ho gaya. Sweetu said that she’ll fall in love with a DJ and get married for the second time. “
She further spoke about her equation with Shah Rukh Khan and how he made everyone feel comfortable on the set. Delaaz said, “I don’t know how I did my scenes with him. My friends tell me that I’m lucky to have been able to kiss Shah Rukh in It’s The Time To Disco so many times. He has a completely positive aura. You’ll just fall in love with him. If there was a time restriction on set, he would gear everyone up and make sure everything is happening smoothly and all of us were happy and comfortable. He didn’t have to do all this. He wasn’t a producer. But he still did.”
Delnaaz feels elated with the kind of love this film and have showered love on her characrer. “I didn’t know that I would make history and that Sweetu would become an iconic role. I didn’t have a major part in the film but I just cracked it. A lot of veteran artists had told me that my role was so powerful that it would go down in history as one of the side characters of Sholay. It was the biggest compliment I ever heard. It was so validating,” she said.
