David Wald exits Crunchyroll: Allegations of workplace abuses and mail fraud surface

‘Fairy Tail’ voice star David Wald, who is popular for his work in ‘Golgo 13,’ ‘SK8 the Infinity, ‘Haikyuu!!’ and more, has decided to take a step back. According to recent developments, David Wald has decided to end his connection with Crunchyroll Studio, citing abuses “far too numerous to list.” He took to Twitter to mention his departure from various popular animes including ‘Fairy Tail.’
Meanwhile, originally David Wald expressed his concerns after he got to know about the mail fraud. Allegedly the private emails sent to David, care of Funimation, and Crunchyroll “over the past five years” were opened, and the contents were made public among Crunchyroll’s staff.
Four days later, David shared that the platform didn’t even provide him with an apology, and as we speak, no resolution has been found. All this led to David deciding to exit from Crunchyroll.
Here’s what David’s post read – “Friends, I am not returning to #Gajeel in #FairyTail. I am not returning to the @Crunchyroll studio. Their abuses are FAR too numerous to list here. But soon, I will tell you all of them, and I will do that here: https://twitch.tv/insideroutside Stay tuned.”

David also mentioned that the alleged mail fraud didn’t include employee engagement, it was more of a management decision. He said that the list of abuse doesn’t end there. According to him, there’s “gay discrimination, medical discrimination, union busting, a culture of fear, or the hostile workplace environment.”
In the wake of the incident, several artists like Zeno Robinson, Hannah Alyea, and Abigail Blythe, among many others came in support of David. They want the streaming joint to look into the matter and understand the severity of the issue.
Further, similar instances have happened in the anime world earlier as well. Kyle McCarley didn’t reprise his role of Shigeo Kageyama, Mob stepping back from ‘Mob Psycho 100’ due to Crunchyroll’s prior hesitation to negotiate with his union, SAG-AFTRA.
